Ignatian Volunteer Corps

The IVC provides men and women, most age 50 or better, opportunities to serve others and to transform lives. IVC matches the talents of experienced Volunteers with the greatest social needs of our time. Buffalo Branch contact is Minnie Wyse (716-854-6726).


Jesuit Volunteer Corps

The JVC is an organization of lay volunteers who volunteer one year or more to community service within poor communities. JVC can be found in inner city neighborhoods and rural communities in about forty different cities throughout the U.S. Jesuit Volunteers in the international program volunteer in different countries around the world. JVC works with the homeless, abused women and children, immigrants and refugees, the mentally ill, people with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses, the elderly, children, and on behalf of other marginalized groups.


Jesuit Refugee Service

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support of an international office in Rome. Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS was officially registered on 19 March 2000 at the Vatican State as a foundation.


Catholic Relief Services

Our mission is to assist impoverished and disadvantaged people overseas, working in the spirit of Catholic social teaching to promote the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the human person. Although our mission is rooted in the Catholic faith, our operations serve people based solely on need, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity. Within the United States, CRS engages Catholics to live their faith in solidarity with the poor and suffering people of the world.

Campus Ministry’s Service Immersion Programs are based on these cornerstones: Simplicity, Social Justice, Solidarity and Spirituality. Canisius College Community Day

Every year Campus Ministry organizes a day for volunteering in the Buffalo Community. Students, faculty/ staff, alumni, and friends of the college are missioned out into the community to serve the needs of non-profit organizations in Buffalo. A one-day commitment, examples of service are:  preparing and serving meals at a soup kitchen; working with Habitat for Humanity; assisting in cleaning churches; helping sort donations at refugees shelters.
